As a consumer of goods, you have the right to receive only the highest quality goods. Manufacturers have a social responsibility to make products that are both fit for their intended use and also safe.
However, the temptation to increase s profits by cutting costs sometimes gets the better of the manufacturer, and products are introduced into the market that are either not fit for their intended purpose or are unsafe or both. This includes tires, cars, houses, toys, motorcycles, lawnmowers, other yard equipment, and all kinds of tools.
The list also includes prescription drugs and medical implants, such as orthopedic hip stems, ankles, knees, shoulders and breast implants.
Many people will remember the famous Ford Pinto litigation, involving the exploding gas tank, the Firestone Tire litigation, and the Sulzer orthopedic hip stem litigation.
